After rave reviews on the Concert Homage to FEDERICO GARCIA LORCA opening the celebrations to 115 years of his birth at INSTITUTO CERVANTES in NYC, Interamerican Development Bank concert series in Washington D.C. and several concerts in South America, Soprano Angelica de la Riva was invited to close the celebrations of LORCA's life with a a concert on JULY 1st at INSTITUTO CERVANTES NY accompanied by classical guitarist Nilko Andreas.
"Angelica de la Riva opened the recital with the “Canciones populares españolas”, accompanied on the guitar by Niko Andreas Guarín. The songs were beautifully interpreted, and her mastery of the voice was amply demonstrated by the singer’s performance. The pianissimos, so difficult to achieve, were executed with great beauty and control. The duo closed the program with the rendition of La Petenera –Tres horas antes del día, from the zarzuela “La Marchenera” by Francisco Moreno Torroba. Angelica de la Riva is not just another soprano. The quality of her voice of varied registers is tender and powerful at the same time and with her interpretation of the songs, the public could easily follow these stories of love and death and of joy and jealousy."
